Long Time, No Blog...what's wrong with this picture....

So, it's been over a year since I last blogged on here.... A lot has happened since then... We finished our trip to Hawaii, praised God for me getting hired on full time in a career field that I LOVE!!!, celebrated our second wedding anniversary, welcomed two more nephews into this world, enjoyed Christmas/New Years/Easter with our families, enjoyed a trip to Tennessee with my family- and I am sure that there are many other things that we have done in this time frame that I am not remember right now. We have been incredibly blessed, and have no one other then God to thank for all of those blessings.

I had forgotten about having this blog site for quite a while...until last week...when a friend of mine (Sarah Rene') posted on facebook that she had started her own blog. That jogged my memory and made me want to get back into blog world and document what's going on in our lives. There's of course been a lot of ups, downs and just plain dull every day moments, but we're breathing, we're happy, we have a roof over our heads and food in our bellies...What else can we ask for.

I have taken some more pictures, but not a whole lot. I am in the middle of editing some senior pics right now for Tawney. Maybe I'll post a few when I finish them- maybe not- i have to ask her. I am also hoping to post a few of my little nephews here soon. Perhaps after Emory's 1st birthday party. I didn't take many at Myles' party.... I am a terrible Aunt.... But since I'm talking about pictures, I'm going to post a few on here now, just for memory sake. I sure do miss some of these folks that I'm going to post on here...and I really miss the innocence of some of these kiddos...but I love that I've been able to watch each and every one of them grow into wonderful beings... So here's my walk down memory lane....from my camera lens!

vacation destination Hawaii

On Wednesday July 18, 2012 Ashley (sis), Justin (sis's boyfriend), Tony and myself left the Columbus airport to make our way to Oahu, Hawaii. We arrived at about 6pm Hawaii time (12am on the 19th Ohio time), in Honolulu, Hawaii. Larry and Berniece (Tony's parents) greeted us at the airport and presented us each with a beautiful Lai that Berniece made from Plumeria blooms that she got off of Aunt Judy's Plumeria tree... The Lai's were georgeous and very fragrent! Unfortunately I was not thinking and I did not get any pictures of them. :( We left the airport and drove to our hotel at Wikiki (Seaside hotel- if you go to Wikiki, don't stay at that hotel if you have a rental car...the parking is HORRIBLE!, other then that it was great!) We ate at the seaside resstaurant that is attached to the hotel and then passed out.

Thursday, July 19, 2012- Tony and I woke up really early (slightly before 5am) because we had to move the rental car from the parking spot, or else we would have to pay $3.00 per half hour we were over 6am. We took advantage of being up so early and went out to explore a little bit around the town while Ash and Justin slept in. We ended up walking the shore of Wikiki, drove a little ways up diamond head and then found a new parking spot, packed our bags and got ready to check out of the hotel. After we got Ash and Justin movinig we went out for breakfast and most of us had some version of loco moco. It as very good, but very different eatin rice for breakfast...I could get used to that. We walked around the beaches some more, drove to the top of diamondead (where the creater is) and then drove to our rental home about an hour up the coastline in Hau'ula. After we unpacked our lugage and talked to the in-laws for a bit, we went out to dinner with them and Aunt Judy, went grocery shopping and then home to sleep.

Friday, July 20, 2012- We started our day by going to Waime Valley and did some major rainforest hiking. It was so beautiful! But was also a much needed workout. After the hike we went out and searched for some of the famous beaches in the area. We stopped and looked at A few beaches, but only went into sharks cove, which is a well known snorkeling beach. It was really neat being able to swim with all the beautiful salt water fish. Hopefully we will be able to post pics from under the water after we get them developed since we only had an underwater film camera. The rocks were pretty dangerous. Ash and I both ended up with some scratches, and fell more times then I can count. After swimming we drove up to Haleiwa and each got a shaved ice with vanilla ice cream and condensed milk on top from Matsumoto's.

Saturday, July 21,2012 - Ashley, Justin, Tony and I went out to the beach across from Aunt Judy's house in Laie'a to do some swimming. Then we had to go back to the house and get ready for Keisha and Tavita's weddidng reception. Oh my gosh, it was the most amazing and emotionally moving reception I have ever seen! There were dancers from the Fijian, Samoan, Tongan and African tribes. There were also dances from the Tongan club from BYU, 3 singers that sang special songs for the Bride and Groom and Keisha performed her last taualuga, which was absolutely beautiful! There was also a very special number played for her father/daughter dance. Keisha's father passed on in 2005. He was a musician and recorded lots of songs before his passing. The boys recently found one of his cd's and played the song "One in a million" for her dance and had all the men in their family that was influenced by Harvey go up front and take turns dancin with her while her daddy sang to her and the guests! Talk about a tear jerker! And did I mention, Tavita's and Keisha were absolutely BEAUTIFUL! After the reception we went back to the beach and Tony and Larry did some body surfing and boogie boarding.

Sunday, July 22,2012 - Larry and Tony woke up at 4am so they could leave to go deep sea fishing with Ben and Tim Haverfield. Justin, Ashley, Bernice and I woke up and left the house around 7:30 and drove to Honolulu. We started hiking Diamondhead at 8:30. Justin walked up by himself while us girls took our time...nice and slow ends the race, right? At about 9:15 or so we met Justin coming back down. Justin and Ashley walked back down the mountain while Bernice and I finished climbing to the top. We reached the top 10:00, took lots of pictures and then started our trip back down, returning to the creater at 10:30. The hike down was so much easier then the trip up! But my gosh, it was totally worth it!  I thought for sure that I was going to die before we exited the tunnel that we had to go through. I am just to closterphobic to handle that ever again. Good thing I made it through once for my entire life.  Justin had a tee time at 2:00 at Turtle Bay Resort so he and Ashley left to golf at 1:30. Larry, Bernice, Tony and I took the fish that the boys caught to Auntie Judy's house and then drove around the north shore for a while. We came back to Aunties house and her boys cooked the fish up for dinner. Everyone seemed to lov the fish. I trid a little bite, it was okay, but I dont generally like fish. Other then that, there was leftover pork from the wedding and Auntie cooked it up with some cabbage, so I wasn't going to pass that up for  dinner!

Monday,  July 2/3,2012 - Us "kids" started our day off going to Turtle Beach while Larry and Bernice went to Judy's house to work on Keisha and Tavita's living quarters. Turtle Beach was GREAT!!! Parking wasn't as great, but it as manageeable today. I quickly understood why there were so many cars parked along the street. We didn't see our first turtle until we were out a little ways in the Ocean, but it was very cool to be able to see them without a crowd of people around them! At one point a turtle was within about 2 feet from me. It made me panach a little bit because Tony had warned me that if you touch the turtles they will fine you...not something I wanted to spend my money on!  I backed away and just enjoyed the opportunity to swim with such a pretty, and mighty large, turtle! By the time we were ready to leave one of the turtles made its way up to the beach area. There were so  many people around it wouldn't get out of the water, but we were able to take some  very good pictures of it becauase of the very clear water! We ventured off to get another shaved ice and then got ready and headed to the Polinisian Culture Center. That was a pretty neat place. We watched the presentations from Samoa, New Zeland and Tonga. Samoa was my favorite! Of course it helped that we were able to watch a young man crack  open a coconut, and show us how to make coconut milk...and then another guy climbed the coconut tree....and then did the "poses" for a calendar! HOTHOTHOT!!As soon as I am able to post  pics, they will be added to this site! While at the culture center we also enjed a dinner luau (which was a lot of fun, and the food was GREAT, especially the pork!) and then watched the night show. The night show was also a lot of fun.

Tuesday, July 24, 2012 - We took the early morning time to get ready to leave tomorrow and then ventured off to the Dole Plantation.  It was pretty neat being able to see a different part of the island, but I much prefer the coastal region. When we were at Dole they inforrmed us that across the road was where thee Japanese were able to......something that has to do with Pearl Harbor....my  mind is blank right now...will edit this later....I have pics of it.

After Dole we went back to the beach by Aunt Judy's house and did some more body surfing/boogie boarding. The waves were great this time around. It was closer to 5pm and according to Tony, that's the best time to catch the waves...I think he was right! Dinner with Judy, Micah, Jeramiah, Keisha, Tavita, Larry and Bernice was Pizza Hut. Hit the spot, but reuined the diet....oh well, it was worth it :)

Wow, it's been a while...

So, it's June 11, 2012. I decided at the beginning of the year that I was going to keep my blog updated, organize my house and take pictures every day....Then life kicked in and my dream ended. My blog has been forgotten about (for the most part, until now), my house is definitely not organized at all any more and well, I certainly haven't taken pictures every day.

I have however, had the opportunity to take senior pictures for two lovely ladies. So I will post a few of those pictures today. I am hoping that I may be able to do some photo shoots of some little babies/children soon also! If you know anyone interested in having their photos taken (senior, children or cooperating adults) let me know! I would love to get in some more practice and I am not to overly expensive!

Indianapolis Zoo

In October my Hubby and I went to Indianapolis to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary. We had a blast! Our decision to go there was so we could go to the Zoo. Yep, we're that cool. All of our trips seem to be centered around zoos or aquariums. We also scheduled our honeymoon around the Zoo and Aquarium located in Chattanooga, TN (yes, it was fun) and the Ripley's Aquarium in Gatlinburg, TN (it was fun also but not as much fun as Chattanooga). And I'm hoping to be able to schedule a trip to Atlanta in August for Thirty One's National Conference, and you guessed it, we will be visiting the Atlanta, GA zoo and aquarium.

Now on to the beautiful pictures from Indy.  I am sure that you can figure out what my favorite parts of the zoos are!! Dolphins, Penguins, Gibbons, Elephants, Giraffes and anything baby!!!

The dolphin adventure was exciting. Watching the trainers give them the cues and the dolphins obeying...for the most part... was one of the coolest things ever. Made me want to spend the money to get in the water with them...but that was going to cost just a few hundred more then we wanted to spend...

Watching Mamma and Baby elephant was really intriguing for me. I think Tony may have been bored after oh, the first 30 minutes, but I could have spent all day there. The baby was so adorable and I just wanted to jump the fence and walk beside/pet/play with that adorable little one... I'm such a sucker for animals...maybe I should have thought about going to school for something animal related...The other animal that I was totally intrigued with was Mamma and baby Giraffe... I am not sure which set of animals I watched the longest, although I think it was probably the elephants because we had to wait so long for the pumpkin smash...which was a treat in and of it's self... Obviously elephants like to eat pumpkins, and watching them smash them with one foot was pretty cool (and I'm not talking about small pumpkins, I'm talking about huge pumpkins that were wheeled in on a dolly).

Yes I know
<==== that is a rhino, not an elephant!

Gibbons may not be the cutest little monkeys, but in my opinion, they are probably the funnest to watch. I am amazed at how well they swing from branch to branch and care for their babies. While we were watching these little heathens we were able to witness a fight between a couple of the younger Gibbons (there were 4 or 5 Gibbon Children there)... The parent's (we assumed the father) took control and stopped the fighting after a while, assuring that his child was not going to get hurt... and then he turned around and started bouncing on one of the branches to try to separate the little monsters!

And who can resist this Mamma Gibbon hugging her baby!!!

After the zoo Tony and I made sure we visited a wonderful restaurant while we were in Indy..Thanks for the recommendation Monica! If you ever go to a bigger city check out FOGO DE CHAO CHURRASCARIA ---- IT'S AMAZING!!! I CAN'T STRESS THAT ENOUGH!!!  Expensive, yes a little, but totally worth it...Just plan on spending $100 for 2 people if you go at dinner time...but I promise, you will never regret it!!! Not up to spending that much money, go for a lunch. It's definitely a restaurant for a special occasion and I would not recommend taking children. Check out their website Fogo De Chao and watch their video. (no, I am not getting paid to advertise for them...I just really enjoyed our dinner there :) ) <Chicago, Baltimore, DC, Atlanta, San Antonio, Dallas and Vegas are just a few of their locations>

A little of this and a little of that

Okay, so a friend of mine called me out and reminded me that I haven't been on my blog and posted since...... Thanks Nicole, for holding me accountable! There's been a lot going on and I haven't been on my computer in about a week and I just haven't figured out how to post from my phone yet...so here we go.....

Updates on my New Years Resolution:
*30 days to a more organized house- it's still in progress. I have not organized every day, but I have gotten over half of the kitchen completed. I have cleaned out and organized most of my cabinets, but decided that I am not going to post pictures of every drawer and cabinet.... but trust me, it's getting done, and my pretty green striped contact paper is looking so much prettier then the wooden cabinets.

*Taking pictures every day- well, lets just say, it's not been every day but I have still been taking pictures, maybe not of the most fabulous things, but they are pictures none-the-less... so here they are :) The first picture is of Gina and her group of Thirty One ladies that attended the new catalog premier in Fairborn, afterwards we went to dinner at Olive Garden!!!!
Tony and I decided to have a Tempura dinner last Tuesday (January 3,2011 and I decided that a picture was a must!!! What's all on the plate? from top left clockwise: sweet potato, shitake mushroom, asparagus, onion, lotus root, green pepper and the center was shrimp... and in the little green and black bowls, homemade tempura sauce... unfortunately I still have the burn marks from the grease splatters :( but dinner was delicious!

And this was tonight's dinner. It's the garden blend penne pasta with chicken and a homemade sauce that contained a couple of ounces of creme cheese, garlic, spinach, and parmesan cheese. It was pretty amazing also!!! Maybe I just love food and cooking :)

And this final picture was taken on a drive back home and I just thought that the tree looked pretty with the sky that night...I have definitely taken pictures of this very tree several times. It's in a great location to stop the car and get out to photograph and the sunset is always great in that area... just to the left of this tree is another great photo op of a really old barn that I like to take pics of also sometimes...depends on the angle that I have my car and how much time I have to mess around taking pictures!

So there you have it folks...I'm not really sure what else to post about tonight. but I may just make another post of some pictures from the Indianapolis zoo... We went there in October to celebrate our anniversary and there was a baby elephant and giraffe...so I think you need to see those pics as well... sounds like a plan...

If you feel so inclined, leave me a message and let me know that you've stopped by....or call me out on facebook and let me know that I haven't been keeping up with my own resolutions!

30 Days to a better organized house

I have decided that for the month of January I am going to be working on home organization. I started in the kitchen yesterday (january 2), and managed to get the cabinet under my sink emptied, cleaned and re-organized. Let me just say, it feels great to be able to open the cabinet and see exactly what it is I am looking for without having to search for it. Tomorrow I am going to start working on all of the other kitchen cabinets and hopefully by the end of the day I will be able to post the before and afters of them as well. As for the rest of the month, well my goal is going to be to completely re-organize my office and bed room. I am pretty sure that's going to take all month. If I have any extra time left of my 30 days then I will work on the front room as well, but since I have recently completed that task, it shouldn't be to hard. :)

I am still trying to figure out what my second 30 day challenge is going to be, but I have a feeling that it will be something along the lines of not eating out at all for the whole month of February (okay, I know, that's only 29 days this year, but I think that's close enough to count as 30 for me!). If that's going to be the plan, then I guess I better start stocking my freezer and cabinets so that I can make some delicious home cooked meals (maybe I should start experiment with menu planning also!).

Here's the pictures I promised...the top is my before, and the bottom 3 are the afters. ( I installed the storage on the doors yesterday morning as well :)
